Basil is an indoor cat of standards, patience, and selective contempt.

He resides in a well appointed home where his preferences are law, his sunbeams are respected, and upholstery is treated with the seriousness it deserves. Basil believes that a civilised household requires order, silence, restraint, and the proper allocation of cushions.

He does not object to companionship. He objects to enthusiasm.
